better question

Who am I?

More than an amalgamation
of physical and psychological.
More than my failure;
more than my success.
More than the sum of days.
More than what I’ve acquired;
more than what I’ve left behind.
More than opinions, observations, piety, praise.
More than what I know
of this illusive thing
called ‘me’.

Maybe,
the better question
is
“Whose am I?”

Romans 6:16

as a servant

Do not hold
things
close to your heart.
For,
like your very life
and the breath in your body,
they do not belong to you.

Walk this road as a servant.

Stories.
They define us,
ground us,
identify us.
They help us believe
and hope
in a better ending,
a better calling.
Choose for yourself
a good story.

i die
a little
each day,

with hope
that when this flesh fails
the spirit
will be able
to let go.
