I am from letters and phonemes and rhymes.
I am from sentences who are still learning
to begin with a capital and end with a full stop.
I am from numbers that fly through the air
performing magic tricks —
multiplying, dividing, sharing.
I am from skinned knees and broken hearts.
I am from snotty noses and big-lipped pouts,
reassuring hugs and stars on the forehead.
I am from Miss Molly Mack, Shumpu and Open Gate.
I am from the place where
“I lost my homework.”
really means
“I climbed a tree instead of doing my sums.”
I am from an enchanted land
called Childhood.

This is for Toads. “Where do I come from?”
Where are you from? 🙂

So does the creative side of you give in to that excuse at times ?:) Somehow I can see you smiling as you pat them on the head and say , This one time you are excused 🙂

Climbing trees and skinning knees is probably just as important as “Spelling.” In fact, maybe more important. 😊

I totally agree! I knew you would think that 🙂

I love this. This sentence, in particular, made me ridiculously happy:
“I am from sentences who are still learning
to begin with a capital and end with a full stop.”

Thank you for introducing me to Frogs. I like the challenges (although I’m trying to do NaPoWriMo and don’t have time for both) and I love reading the works posted there. So many talented people!

Absolutely my pleasure! It’s a wonderful, encouraging place to be, full of amazing poets! And my first visit there – and to any other sites, for that matter – was because I followed somebody. 😉 Follow me to magical poeming places, any time! 🙂
