Slowly, silently, now the moon
tiptoes up the clouds,
peeping through each fuzzy rung,
playing hide-and-seek with the deep, dark ocean.

The waters rise to meet the light
then fall with a sigh on the silver sands,
only to surrender to temptation again —
rise and fall, rise and fall, rise and fall —
as the full-faced night nellie
climbs to heaven.
