I am too much a capitalist.
Here are the lines.
Mind the protective boundaries.
Blame my upbringing.
Accuse my culture.
Denounce the politicians.

I am too much a liberal.
I know my rights.
(And I am not shy to moan when my toes have been stepped on.)
Implicate my education.
Charge the preachers, teachers, soap-box evangelists.

I am too much free for heaven.
For I am a slave
whether to Christ or myself,
to the divine monarchy or to self anarchy.
Condemn sin.
And if I am tangled in iniquity
so shall I be condemned and self absorbed and dragged down to death.

Free me,
God of the universe,
to be bound
to you.
